Are you wondering who this person is behind Peak Potential Integrative Health? You can find a brief introduction here. If you want to know more, read on!
Hi! My name is Jill and I am a certified registered nurse practitioner and certified functional medicine practitioner with a passion for all things running. I am also a wife, mother of kids ages 7 to 22, and run a small family farm along with my husband. As you might guess, I definitely understand what it is like to have a busy life and juggle priorities! Somehow though, I always squeeze in a run because it is good for my mind, body, and spirit. In fact, my family has on occasion encouraged me to head out because I am definitely a better person after a run (runners, and family members of runners, you know what I mean haha).
As a medical provider, I have worked for many years as a registered nurse and then as a nurse practitioner. My experience includes everything from primary care, to post-surgical acute care, to palliative care, homecare, and hospice. Ultimately, I love helping people to discover what they want in life (whichever stage that might be) and to achieve their goals. My underlying focus has always been on holistic health because I believe that this is the only way to make a true impact. Personally, I have experienced renewed health through functional medicine after struggling for years with autoimmunity. This eventually pushed me to pursue my functional medicine certification. I am particularly passionate about herbalism and treating the root cause of illness. I believe that we are all capable of so much more than we believe!
Running has been an important part of my life for over 25 years. I started out with high school cross country, then progressed to running my first half marathon at age 16. I eventually moved from road half marathons to trails, then road marathons to trail ultramarathons up to and including 100 miles. My favorite distance is 100k and my favorite race format is the Backyard Ultra (so much fun!).
Over the years, it has been the training that I love more than anything. Getting up early and outside is my favorite way to start each day. I run in all seasons and all weather. Here in Pennsylvania that means everything from 100-degree summer humidity, to freezing rain and blizzards. Running has helped me to see so much of God’s creation that I otherwise would not have. To name a few: I have run the Grand Canyon floor, deep into the mountains of Wyoming, and experienced sunrises that might have passed me by in bed. Running has also blessed me with the opportunity to meet some amazing people. You really get to know someone on a different level during an ultramarathon race. Strangers at the start know each other’s life stories by the end!
I would love to connect with you over holistic health and/or running! I understand the importance of exercise and believe that the body was made to move. You can be assured that I am not the medical provider that will tell you to “just rest” (terrible words to an endurance athlete’s ears). I am dedicated to finding the root cause of illness and working toward true and lasting wellness for my clients while supporting them so that they can do the things that they want to do. I believe in the power of food as medicine with nature as an incredible tool.
