FAQS
What is integrative health?
It really is the best of both worlds! Integrative health is the practice of considering your wellness from a holistic perspective. As an experienced nurse practitioner and functional medicine provider, I can take a wide view of your issues. This includes a thorough understanding of your traditional healthcare regimens/needs while supporting you in a more natural way.
What is functional medicine?
What are the benefits of herbal medicine?
Herbals are plants that have been around as long as humans have walked the earth. Their effectiveness has been proven over and over in peer reviewed research studies. Herbal medicine not only works incredibly well, but it also has significantly fewer side effects as compared to pharmaceuticals. This is due to the fact that herbals target complex partial responses at multiple receptor sites whereas pharmaceuticals tend to knock one site completely out. The amazing finesse that herbs have make them the ideal treatment for many health imbalances.
Why is nutrition so powerful?
Our bodies were designed to absorb and run on food! Our health literally depends on the quality and variety in our diets. Unfortunately, our current food supply has much less nutritional density as compared to that of just 50 years ago. This is in large part due to farming practices and hybridization. I particularly like to use Standard Process brand supplements because they are made completely from concentrated, organically grown foods.
Can you prescribe pharmaceuticals too?
Yes, as a true integrative health nurse practitioner, I can prescribe pharmaceuticals if needed. My goal is to use these as a last resort and then only temporarily if possible while addressing root causes and seeking true wellness.
What is a functional medicine visit like?
You can choose to see me either virtually or in-person at 3570 Hamilton Blvd. Allentown, PA 18103. These options make the service extremely convenient for you and also allow me to help people from near and far. You are welcome to mix and match, making some visits in-person and others virtual to best suit your needs.
How does it work?
You can schedule your visit by calling our office at 484-656-0333. Prior to your first visit, you will be sent a lengthy intake packet to complete electronically. This may seem a little bit overwhelming at first, but it is extremely important for us to truly get to know you, your goals, your health, and your challenges. Prior to your first visit, we will review this in depth. During our initial session, we will dive deeper into these things and you will be able to share with me your concerns and needs. We will work together to develop an individualized plan that usually includes nutritional, herbal, lifestyle, and training recommendations. We will start you on supplements, if indicated, which can be obtained at a discount through a reputable online dispensary. I may also order laboratory tests (for you to have taken here in our office or locally) if it seems that this will be of benefit. We will review these results at your follow up visit and adjust your treatment plan accordingly. We will be available to you via email, telephone, and/or your patient portal messaging in between visits for questions and support. Together, we will work to optimize your health and achieve your goals.
